ABOUT
Dr. Cruz is a bilingual Licensed Psychologist and Diversity/Social Justice Consultant/Activist in the Denton/Dallas/Fort Worth area with 20 years of experience. She is currently Assistant Director and Director of Training at Texas Woman’s University Counseling Center and Clinical Faculty of the Psychology & Philosophy Department. Additionally, she provides private consultation for institutions, businesses, and individuals who aim to improve their perspectives and inclusion within their organizations. She is also a diversity and gender specialist, with particular specialty in LGBTQ populations.
Dr. Cruz completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Criminal Justice at Florida International University in Miami, Florida and received her doctoral degree from the Center for Psychological Studies at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She completed her doctoral internship training at the Texas Woman’s University Counseling Center. Dr. Cruz’s professional interests include social justice training, teaching/supervision of students, the psychology of gender, identity issues, multicultural psychology, cultural/spiritual development, existential theory and the impact of the stigma of psychotherapy. Her unique strength lies in her ability to connect with others as well as providing opportunities for audience members to increase their awareness through teaching, authenticity, stories and laughter.
Dr. Cruz lives with her wife, kids, and cats in Denton, Texas where she engages in hobbies such as drumming, watching good TV & movies, and tending to her palm trees.
