1993 - Started CPS GALA at NSU, Ft. Lauderale
1998 - Started discussions at TWU for Ally training
1999 - Mentored Latina students for over 10 years
2000 - Started TWU Pride organization for students

Queer Communities

Dr. Cruz has been working with the LGBTQ community for over 20 years. As an out lesbian psychologist and social justice advocate in the DFW/Denton community, she has worked to make spaces for LGBTQ individuals safer. Dr. Cruz has started multiple organizations for LGBTQ people including GALA of Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale in 1995, TWU Pride in 2000, was on the founding steering committee for a faculty/staff LGBTQ organization at Texas Woman's University and was the founding co-chair of the LGBTQ community organization OUTreach Denton from 2011 to present. She also recently created the Queer Council of Denton, a collective group of LGBTQ advocates and leaders in Denton. She also provides diversity trainings for local institutions, businesses and groups.
